“Fluidity”
Acrylic on Wood Panel

“Baby Whale Zodiac Dreams”
Acrylic on Canvas
20x16
Ojai Art Center Exhibition
I painted this piece as a form of creative meditation while I was 7 months pregnant with my daughter. Each brushstroke was a form of meditation, envisioning a peaceful home birth.
Little did I know, that soon after finishing the painting, I would unexpectedly welcome my daughter into the world six weeks ahead of schedule. It was a humbling reminder that life’s plans can swiftly change, catching us by surprise.
So, there I was, unexpectedly thrust into the throes of motherhood six weeks earlier than expected.
No serene home birth.
No beautifully adorned nursery awaiting us.
Instead, it was me, my tiny, precious 3lb-13oz preemie baby, and my devoted husband navigating through the challenges of NICU life, all of us in survival mode.
This painting is called, “Strength”.
It’s the second of a series of elephant paintings I created during a collaboration with other artists. Together we created a set of 100 ‘Mother Love’ postcards, symbolizing the matriarchal power and spirit of elephant societies.
I share this story, because if you ask any artist, there is (almost) always a story that inspired that piece of work. Whether it’s a song, a poem, choreography, a play, a film, even jewelry. Something transpired from the ethers, and most likely the creation of said artwork served as a form of catharsis for that artist, making it even more meaningful for the viewer or those that get to experience it💫.
This original piece will be exhibited at the Ojai Art Center through the month of May (May 4th-May 29th) along with other members of the Buenaventura Art Association.
If you’re interested in this original piece, please contact me or visit the Ojai Art Center to view it in person.

A Festival of Feminine Power + Artistry
What is the Festival of Feminine Power + Artistry?
It is multi-dimensional!
A "hybrid" online summit and online course.
It is...
...with 21 different painting workshops, taught by 21 different Creatively Fit Coaches & a few Special Guests.
...within which you get to explore your own Feminine Power + Artistry, as each featured teacher shares how she is connecting to her Feminine Power + Artistry.
...that invites you into a deeper knowing of who you are and what makes you SO awesome!
..in which each of the 21, approximately 60 minute workshops, explores an aspect of Feminine Power + Artistry, and / or a specific Goddess who represents a pantheon of Feminine Power + Artistry.
...where Whitney Freya will be painting the Goddess Freya, sharing her magic, how she has empowered her to reclaim her own personal sovereignty and much more.
...in which you can explore the Creatrix archetype with Creatively Fit Coach Colleen Talbot and Mother eARTh powers with Creatively Fit Coach Desiree East.
...with Guest Teacher Tahverlee Anglen painting the Witch Goddess.
...that will include an interview with Whitney Freya & each featured teacher, released throughout April and May 2022, to expand upon how the knowing we discover during our painting practice can ripple out into the art that is our lives.
...that requires ZERO painting experience. We have a whole lesson just for beginner painters to help you "remember" the basics quick & easy! This "studio" specializes in creating safe, supportive and inspiring space for ALL Life Artists.
And in the spirit of TARA, we are committed to as many beings as possible benefiting from our own personal empowerment. This is why, we will be donating a minimum of 70% of net proceeds from this Festival to a fund committed to ending FGM, Female Genital Mutilation. You can learn more about this organization HERE.

Pick a Card + Paint w/Me - Creative Rituals LIVE - For the Mamas
Please join me for some casual live-streaming creativity sessions on my YouTube channel. As you all know, I’m a homeschooling mama living in the times of Covid, so I’m just going with the flow, as we all are, and trying my best to find little pockets of peace.
My intention is to connect with other creatives (and especially struggling mamas) who are craving self-care and solo time, so that they could find inner peace during these uncertain times. We all need a break and deserve self-nourishment for our souls.
I’m hoping to go live at least once a week, and as of now, those days are ‘loosely’ scheduled on Wednesdays, Fridays or the weekends at 11am Pacific Time.
The best way to stay updated with my YouTube events is to subscribe to my channel + click the notification bell to receive notifications of when I go LIVE or upload a new video.

EVENT CANCELLED - Celebration of the Whales Festival
UPDATE: Sadly, but very understandably in light of Coronavirus (COVID-19), Channel Islands Harbor has canceled Celebration of the Whales which was to have been held on March 22nd. Thank you for understanding!
More than 20 chalk artists will share their artwork at the 23rd Annual Celebration of the Whales Festival at the Channel Islands Harbor. From 11 – 3 p.m. on March 22, this year’s event will feature free, family-friendly activities held at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum, Marine Emporium Landing, Channel Islands Harbor Farmers Market, and a “Gray Whale Migration Trail” along the marina path that connects the activity centers. In addition to the chalk art, there will be shopping and prize drawings that include whale watching excursions for the entire family.
The Celebration of Whales Festival is a collaborate event among the Channel Islands Maritime Museum, Harbor lessees, businesses, and the Ventura County Harbor Department that celebrates the migration of the Pacific Gray Whale.
21-Day Creative Courage Challenge w/Whitney Freya
2020 is a big year--for SO many reasons.
What I know for sure is that we will each be called to listen to, honor, & follow our heARTs even more. That will take courage.
We know the word, courage, has at its root, the word for heART.
The “world” wants us to follow the most “logical” path, the path of the guaranteed or proven outcome / results.
AND what we, as creatives, desire most is NOT logical or practical. We want to create change!
OWL can illuminate new paths for you that would otherwise be obscured in the darkness of our fear. Fear of upsetting others. Fear of saying something wrong or contradictory. Fear of not being approved of or validated. I know ALL of these fears.
I also know that together, validating each other’s “wild ideas” and visions of even more harmony, adventure, excitement, and love, we can create SO much more.
So, I decided to join an intimate, 21 Day Creative Courage Challenge, inspired by the energy of the OWL, the theme of SOARING into new landscapes, and creating our vision for 2020 in full illumination of our heart’s desires.
From December 1st to 21st, I will personally be participating in a special Creative Challenge alongside Whitney Freya and other Creatively Fit Coaches--and I want you to join me. There will be a private FB group (where I will be cheering you on, holding you accountable...along with Whitney), twice-a-week FB lives and two live group Zoom calls to hold each of us (I love that these events hold me accountable too!) accountable and focused on what we WANT in 2020, no matter what.
When you join me for this special Creative Courage Challenge, you will enjoy these added benefits:
A LIVE Zoom group call, at two different times to fit your schedule, on December 3rd and December 19th.
Membership to our private FB group just for this Creative Courage Challenge.
Daily posts from me to inspire your heART.
Weekly FB lives (four total) of live painting tutorials, guided meditations and more.
Lifetime access to Art Gypsy Guatemala, the Owl Painting Experience.
An opportunity to WIN a 2020 New Year Sacred Symbol Session with Whitney Freya, a $299 value.
GO HERE to learn more and to join me. Check out the video for the course--it was all filmed in Guatemala at the magical Lake Atitlan--you will love the views.
I plan on creating very intentional time heading into the new year and focus on what is really important to me moving into 2020. I hope you join me to lay the foundation for a magical year of heART-guided action and experiences that light you up from the inside out! xoxo
Mandala Meditations by the SEA - A Creativity Circle w/Desiree East
Are you looking for a creative way to achieve FOCUS, CLARITY, & RELAXATION, while deepening your INTUITION and developing a SACRED CREATIVE PRACTICE?
Please join me in circle with the YOGA by the SEA community, as we connect with the creation of sacred mandalas through creative meditation.
Mandalas are a form of sacred geometry whose patterns could be found in natural forms, like flowers, snowflakes, nautical shells, and honeycombs. Mandalas have been used for centuries, in some sort of form or fashion, by different cultures and religions throughout the world.
It is represented by a circle, which is a symbol for life, and the creation of mandalas have been used as a form of meditation, ritual, healing, inspiration, and self-expression.
You will create your very own unique mandala creation and experience the benefits of meditation and relaxation, while exercising your creative mind and embracing present moment awareness.
You will also deepen your practice of using the power of intention to create positive changes in your life, while creating artwork that is both beautiful and meaningful.
